History of Jennimich
CEO Michael Nguyen – Founder of Jennimich and Chu Hai Spirit spoke at the product launch
Growing up, I often watched my mother craft traditional Bách Nhật rice spirit — a drink I deeply admired for its rich aroma and comforting character. She would always say, “A good spirit begins with good glutinous rice. It nourishes the body, balances harmony, and brings warmth, better sleep, and well-being.” From that moment, glutinous rice became deeply rooted in my memory as one of Vietnam’s most treasured gifts of nature, cultivated and cherished by generations for thousands of years.
Glutinous rice is more than an ingredient in Vietnamese culture — it is a symbol of tradition, family, and celebration. It is used to create beloved foods such as bánh chưng, bánh giầy, festive rice cakes, and xôi during Tết and other important occasions. Naturally, it also became the perfect foundation for crafting authentic Vietnamese spirits.
In 2022, after many years living in the United States, I returned to Vietnam and reconnected with close friends who reignited my long-held dream of creating a premium spirit made from the glutinous rice I had loved since childhood. Through this journey, I was introduced to a master distiller whose family has preserved the art of traditional Vietnamese spirit-making for four generations. Combining this deep heritage with my understanding of modern international distillation techniques and premium Western spirits, we set out to create something truly unique.
From this vision, two premium Vietnamese spirit brands were born: Jennimich and Chu Hai Spirit — crafted to honor Vietnamese tradition while embracing modern refinement.
Jennimich and Chu Hai Spirit are created not simply for drinking, but for sharing meaningful moments, inspiring connection, strengthening friendships, and celebrating the rich aroma and gentle sweetness of Vietnamese glutinous rice. Every bottle reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, smoothness, and quality, while delivering a refined and enjoyable experience.
Our hope is that Jennimich and Chu Hai Spirit will be embraced by people everywhere and, one day, proudly represent the spirit and culture of Vietnam on tables around the world.
Methanol & Aldehyde
Many people wonder why consuming alcohol can sometimes lead to headaches, nausea, dehydration, fatigue, and physical discomfort the following day. One of the primary reasons is the presence of unwanted impurities such as methanol and aldehydes, which can develop during poor-quality fermentation and distillation processes. These compounds are among the most important substances that responsible producers must carefully control and remove during production.
Low-cost alcohol products are often made with inferior ingredients or inadequate distillation methods in order to reduce manufacturing costs, without proper consideration for consumer health and product quality. Excessive levels of harmful impurities may contribute to negative physical effects and discomfort after consumption.
For this reason, consumers should always pay attention to the origin of the product, the reputation of the manufacturer, the quality of ingredients used, and whether the spirit has undergone proper filtration and quality control processes. It is also important to verify that the product complies with food safety standards and has been tested or certified by appropriate alcohol control and regulatory authorities.
Choosing high-quality, responsibly produced spirits is an important step toward ensuring a safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable drinking experience.
